I'm working with a small electronics business on the outskirts of Stroud who are looking for a Junior Firmware/Embedded Engineer. The company design and manufacture test equipment for a variety of customers across the globe. The equipment is used in test houses and customer labs.
The position will involve development of code (embedded C) onto microcontrollers. There is also the chance to learn / enhance VHDL skills too whilst developing FPGAs.
It's a Junior role and the client are willing to consider those without any commercial experience up to about 4 years.
When applying, it may be useful to show a portfolio or any example projects completed during studies or in your spare time.
Essential skills for the Junior Embedded Systems Engineer are:
- Embedded C
- Microcontrollers (ARM/PIC/STM) understanding
- Basic communications (I2C/SPI/UART/USB) protocols
The following skills would be nice to have:
- VHDL knowledge
- Any understanding of Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
HNC/HND/Degree in Electronics, Embedded Systems or similar industry experience is accepted.
Working for a smaller company (less than 50 employees) gives a good chance for exposure to different engineering disciplines (mechanical, software, electronics, production) and other business functions too (purchasing, suppliers etc)
If you're interested, please apply below or get in touch with me directly with any questions.
Cheers,
Nathan
